2 lbs. *ground beef
1/3 cup medium sweet onion (chopped)
1/3 cup ketchup
1/3 cup (chopped) **dill pickle
2 slices bread (diced)
1 beaten egg
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
**Genuine or Barrel Cured Dill - Not Kosher
Make up a gravy from drippings or use cheese sauce below...
Mix together raw ground beef with all other ingredients. (*not so lean so you will get drippings for gravy)
Mold into a lightly greased loaf pan.
At this point you may want to brush with a little ketchup for an extra tangy flavor.
Bake 1 hour to 11/4 hours at 400º (lean beef will take less time)
Serve with gravy or *cheese sauce
*Cheese Sauce: (start with grated cheese)
Melt 8oz. cheddar cheese into 1/4 cup warm/hot milk and 1 Tbls. butter.
Pour over top of meatloaf. Slice and serve
