1/2 onion (chopped)
1-clove garlic (minced)
11/2 lbs. ground beef
2 - 32oz cans whole tomatoes
2 - 32oz cans kidney or small red beans
3/4 bottle *Grandma’s Spanish Seasoning (*if you can find)
1/3 cup Gebhardt® (or preferred brand chili powder)
* I haven't found Grandma's for quite some time.
(Although, Amazon has the Chili Seasoning Packets)
(If you cannot find, I Instead, use up to 1/2 cup of regular chili power and add 1 Tbls. cumin powder.
In large kettle, brown beef, onion and garlic together
(Add a little cooking oil if you've chosen very lean ground beef)
Stir in rest of ingredients breaking up tomatoes as much as possible.
Cook to thicken on medium heat for about an hour or two. Stir often to prevent burning.
*Grandma’s has been hard to find since my 1st edition.
You can duplicate the flavor by adding 1/2 to 1Tbls. cumin in with your chili powder.
Top with some shredded cheddar and a dollop of sour cream if desired.
Serve with cooked rice and or saltine crackers.
