2 cups sugar
2/3 cup unsalted butter
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
5 cups flour (sifted)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp nutmeg (optional)
Cream butter & sugar.
Add eggs and beat until fluffy.
Add vanilla & sour cream.
Sift together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture.
Mix until smooth.
Chill dough 3-4 hours.
Preheat oven to 350º
Roll out dough 1/3” thick onto floured surface
Cut into shapes and transfer shapes onto greased cookie sheets. (I use a Silpat baking mat)
Bake 6-8 minutes or until bottoms turn slightly browned.
Let cool and frost with Sour Cream Frosting
