3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter (softened)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 large egg
21/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup coarsley chopped nuts (optional)
1 (12 oz) bag semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
1. Heat oven to 375º.
2. Beat sugars, butter, vanilla and egg in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed.
Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff).
Stir in chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
3. Drop by using medium cookie scoop (two tablespoons minimum) 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet .
4 Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown (centers will be soft).
Cool 1 to 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
