8 1oz squares unsweetened chocolate (divided)
1 cup butter “plus” 3 Tbls (divided)
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup flour
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups powdered sugar
Milk or cream
Melt 4 oz (squares) chocolate with 1 cup butter.
Add this to sugar
Beat eggs lightly and add to mixture.
Add flour, vanilla, nuts & salt.
Fold out into a greased (foil-lined, lapping over edges) 9x13" pan
Bake 30-35 minutes at 350º.
When brownies are cool, spread with frosting made with:
3 cups powdered sugar
2 Tbls butter, and enough cream to make of spreading constituency.
When frosting is set, ice with:
4 (squares) melted chocolate to which 1 Tbls butter has been added.
Use back of soupspoon to spread evenly over frosting.
Sprinkle with a little crushed peppermint candy for a Christmas-time flair.
Let set, lift from pan using overlapped foil edges, and cut into bars.
Note: Chocolate will crack around edges - don’t worry-I’ve (unsuccessfully) tried every method to avoid this.
They are Beautifully Delicious anyway!
